The OCNZ is the body that sees that certain standards are maintained within the profession in this country.

It is a government negotiated body that protects the name 'Osteopath', which only allows registered members to call themselves Osteopaths.

In an article explaining what 'qualified' means in relation to Osteopathy in New Zealand, Consumer magazine said that "Members of the OCNZ have undergone 4 or more years of full-time training in Osteopathy at one of a specified list of institutions." They also note that the OCNZ impose a code of ethics & disciplinary procedures

OCNZ affiliated Osteopaths are recommended and have ACC approval for treatment.

All of the practitioners at the Mount Osteopathic Centre are OCNZ members which requires them to carry out a set number of hours of postgraduate training each year. This ensures that their knowledge is up to date.

It is the aim of the Clinic to Continue to raise standards by increasing the practitioners' knowledge base and by updating techniques. We all attend courses throughout New Zealand.
